Process: Prepared concrete using EcoAcid to open the surface pores. To separate colors, cut score marks in the concrete using an angle grinder. Installed the ORIGINAL Solid Color Stains (custom colors) using a NewLook Applicator Brush.

This concrete floor was stained in Cola, Golden Wheat, and English Red.

The existing interior concrete floor at the Mustard Seed Restaurant in Spokane, Washington was resurfaced using Ardex Overlay at 50% white/50% gray. It was then stained with Scofield’s acid stains in Antique Amber, Faded Terra Cotta and Dark Walnut.

Stained the entire floor with a golden wheat stain. Then applied a Modello stencil and dyed the appropriate areas with a combination of black, dark chocolate, bark brown and amber from Smith Paint Products. Read More About This Project

For the second year in a row, the Grand Prize from Scofield's Decorative Concrete Awards was given to Lou DeCillis of Artistic Flooring Systems of West Bloomfield, MI. for his innovative use of stain work on the floor for Lido Gallery and Gifts. Even though this wasn't a large job (the lobby and reception area for a new art gallery), the owner wanted a very dramatic and stunning floor. "Art on the floor," was the way DeCillis described it. Described as "an impressionist painting on concrete" the floor was created with a combination of LITHOCHROME® Chemstain® Classic, LITHOCHROME® Tintura™ Stain and SCOFIELD® Formula One™ Liquid Dye Concentrate, then sealed with SCOFIELD® Selectseal-S™. Departing from the "graphic design" look of most decorative concrete artisans, DeCillis used the colors in a loose, painterly fashion, creating a floor that is as much a work of art as the pieces that the gallery houses.

In Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., this damaged, existing concrete floor was poorly finished, and caused Staintec owner, Glen Roman, to reconsider even taking on the job. At EJI’s Corner Shop/Candy Bouquet, owners Chito and Emily Alcantara wanted to improve the look of their concrete floor on a budget. To add a touch of design to the floor, Roman and co-op installer Marty Meewis of Colors on Concrete, created a circular pattern mirroring the circular track of lights above. The floor was colored with Concrete Coatings Mahogany stain. The circular area was colored with an Amber border, a Walnut ring, and then was faux-finished on the inside with Amber and a heavy cast of ironite, and a diluted mixture of Mahogany. Seal Tech 25 was applied and then the entire floor was given six coats of a wax finish. The project size was 2,300 square feet. Average cost: $3 square foot.

This overlapping circles pattern was done back in '99 in a residence north of Dallas. It's colored with Black and diluted Black.

This overlapping squares pattern is stained English Red and Black. It's a residence in Dallas done around 2000.

LITHOCHROME® Chemstain® Classic was used to create this custom design for both the floor and countertop. Padre Brown, Antique Amber, Copper Patina, and Weathered Bronze were used in pure, blended, diluted, and layered techniques to achieve the look we desired while working directly with the owner. The floor was sealed using SCOFIELD® Cureseal-VOC™.

The beautiful color palette for this remotely located project was achieved using ten colors of LITHOCHROME® Tintura™ Stain sealed with SCOFIELD® Selectseal-W™. Five of the ten colors were blends of two or more colors to create a close match to the rendered design. The patterns were digitized to stencils that were traced to the floor and scored using a 4" grinder.

In Chino Hills, Calif., Liz March, a creative stay-at-home mom wanted to remove the existing commercial carpet and create a decorative design floor that would be easier to maintain. Glen Roman used Newlook (Sierra solid color stain) for the base color on the floor and then used enhancers Spanish Clay, Buffalo Brown, and Terra Cotta. Read more about how this project was created.

This interior concrete floor was stained in Vintage Umber, Green Lawn, Golden Wheat, and Black. The design was scored into the concrete using a diamond edge blade and then stained.

The new concrete floor in the Sakura Japanese Steakhouse in Columbus, OH received an elegant finish to it floor using an acid stained application of Scofield’s black stain.

This 30,000 sq. ft. commercial concrete floor at a printing company in Philadelphia was created using a trowelled down overlay. A 36 “ square tile pattern was cut into the surface and then it was acid stained with Elitecrete’s antique red.
