National Mall Developer to Test Pervious Concrete

The Simon Property Group will install pervious concrete next week at its University Park Mall property in Mishawaka, Indiana, reports the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association's (NRMCA) Midwest National Resource Director Jon Hansen. This 10,000 square foot test section will be monitored by Simon for performance and durability, and will become a model for design as Simon looks for stormwater management methods and green building practices for its shopping centers and commercial properties.

The test section this week and the larger placement next week will both be under the watchful eye of Pat Kiel of the Indiana Ready Mixed Concrete Association (IRMCA). "With 325 properties across the United States, the success of the Mishawaka test section will represent a huge opportunity for the concrete industry," Hansen said.
