One day in 1965, a little boy in Ulysses, Kansas shyly approached a crew of men pouring concrete. He watched intently, unnoticed by most. But one man noticed and asked, "Do you know about concrete?" The boy brightened and replied, "I know that's a bullfloat you're using now" pointing to the tool in the man's hand. "and after that, you're going to use one of those trowels over there."
The man laughed and another chimed in, "You must be Louie's boy." I am Louie's boy, a third generation concrete craftsman.
Learning a craft from a skilled and caring parent is a tradition that's been lost. You don't simply learn the basics... you learn time tested secrets; you inherit the passion and become immersed in a heritage that's being passed on to you. Perfecting and enhancing the craft further becomes your responsibility.
Although I had to leave my small hometown, I stayed true to the craft and secrets taught me by my father. What he taught me has touched downtown Santa Barbara, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Denver, and elite homes in Colorado's exclusive mountain communities.
