Shmuel Linski, a student at Shenkar College of Engineering and Design in Tel Aviv, designed this working concrete coffee maker. Linski wanted to create a desirable consumer product for the kitchen that would be functional and not merely a decorative piece. He also wanted it to be made of concrete. Linski says the most challenging part of his design process was balancing the roughness and massiveness of the concrete with the final metal parts of the machine. He says, "The machine works with coffee beans: they are poured from the top part. The water is poured into "water drawer" in the back." Linski calls his invention the Espresso Solo.
