Precautions with Stenciling

In a new concrete pour, the most important precaution is to ensure that the stencil is not applied too deeply initially (stencil applied to the surface should be visible), as floating and finishing will cause the stencil to settle deeper in the concrete.

Appropriate timing is critical for stencil removal. Removal too early (while material is sticky to top of stencil) will not come out clean and breakage of stones may result. Removal too late (after extended period of curing) will result in difficult removal.

Adjustments need to be made accordingly for field conditions, i.e. inclement weather.
