Decorative Concrete Artwork Shines on Cover of
Concrete Expressions Magazine

Spring issue is packed with technical articles, photos,
decorative concrete products, and more

Concrete Expressions magazine, the official publication of The Concrete Network, is sure to wow its readers once again in its Spring 06 issue! Among the many in-depth articles and full color photos of decorative concrete work, one of the most unique things in this issue is on the cover!

The second piece in The Concrete Networks decorative concrete artwork series is unveiled on the cover of the upcoming issue! New York Girl, an oil painting created by fine artist Katy Betz, portrays the evolvement of decorative concrete from a simple, gray surface to the colored, patterned, artistic medium that it is today.

In the painting, four men, from a past time period, peer across a New York City street at a modern-day woman on a bright, stamped concrete sidewalk. Ms. Betzs description of the painting explains her unique perspective:

Evening was approaching and the city was growing ever darker. Nonetheless, the woman walked on with confidence, knowing that her stamped path would lead to a bright future. Across the street, onlookers were stuck in a past era, but she paved the way to innovation and success, revealing to them how marvelous decorative concrete can be.

In each issue of Concrete Expressions, a new piece in The Concrete Networks decorative concrete artwork series will be revealed. The paintings form a unique collection of decorative concrete artwork. See the first painting in the series, Romans in Awe.
