Fabulous interior concrete floors- you'll feel sorry for the wood and tile guys

There has been a tidal wave of change in the concrete business in recent years. Conventional thinking about concrete relates to standard driveways, roadways, parking lots, and curbs.

A marketing guru I spoke to recently told me his most fundamental thoughts about concrete related back to his childhood: he fell down on the ground and realized concrete was very hard. He saw it on the roadways and could see it was very strong. He had to wheelbarrow concrete for some piers to hold up a deck his father was building--he knew it was very heavy. These represent fundamental feelings most people have about concrete. They often don't have many other emotions about concrete--it's just, well, concrete.

Times are a changing. It doesn't matter to most folks what the technical name for these new concrete floors are: micro toppings, self leveling overlays, acid etch stains, water-based stains, stenciling, sandblast templates, stampable polymers, painted floors, and other decorative interior applications. What matters are the awe-inspiring floors that can be produced.

Concrete Advantages

These concrete floors are not only beautiful, but have many advantages over other materials. They can be kept clean, for instance, whereas carpet can be a safe harbor for biological pollutants in your home.

Wood floors can warp over time as trapped moisture affects the moisture content of the wood. Tile has issues with grout cracking, or the tile itself cracking, and needing to be replaced.

Any of the choices, wood, tile, or concrete- need regular upkeep to remain looking beautiful.
