California concrete contractor shares how he got involved with decorative concrete.

I'm a Civil Engineer with over 25 years of Civil Design experience and although my family boasts over 50 years of concrete experience I chose the lazy profession rather than the physical labor required to produce such beautiful work. I also have a natural gift for art.

Although I'm relatively new to the decorative concrete business, I have a deep love for it now. It all started with a house I owned and I built a nice custom barbecue on a blah! piece of concrete. I went online to find a solution for what I thought to be an impossible task. Believe it or not I even considered lifting the barbecue in order to re-do the concrete pad. The barbecue turned out to be too large and heavy for that, so my quest to find a solution began with decorative concrete.

I called a few contractors and found it to be to be out of my price range. I decided that I would attempt to do it myself and enrolled in a class to learn the steps. I did my homework before the first day of class and found it intriguing. After only one year of tinkering with designs and small projects within my own family. I decided to take the California Contractor's exam and open my own company.

I am having so much fun designing my artwork that I've found time to add custom gates and barbecue islands to my company. The project in the pictures is my home and the model I use for clients to visit while deciding to hire my company and my services. We're being featured in local magazines in the Palm Springs, California area and the local newspaper as well.

I believe in not only providing our clients a quality product but I take pride in the artwork and guarantee a personal masterpiece that they will cherish for years to come. I strive for quality, art, while imitating real stone and rock. If there' one thing I'm learning is that the closer I get to the real macoy the nicer the work looks. If I don't walk away from every project with pride, I feel like I've cheated my customer out of his money and time. I can't believe they pay me to do this.

Thank you for the opportunity to tell my story.
