GlassIt's the beginning of a new year and the perfect time to brainstorm ways you can build your business and generate more income. You can continue to do business with existing clients by also offering to maintain their stained floors on a regular basis. Often you can schedule maintenance work to fill up the lag time between jobs, or you can hire assistants to do the job while you focus on the creative aspects of staining concrete floors. Stained basement floor

Basic services to offer
Even if you protect stained concrete with a sealer or floor finish to help prevent wear, that doesn't eliminate the need for periodic maintenance. How much traffic the floor receives often dictates the amount of ongoing maintenance required. Here are some general guidelines to help you plan a maintenance program.

Floor cleaner

Cleaning tips
Sometimes the floor will only need a little TLC -- a good professional cleaning with a concrete cleaner or degreaser to remove the buildup of dirt and grime. Learn how the various types of concrete cleaners work and how to choose the best one for the job.

Maintaining floors video

Videos on maintaining concrete floors
Get some great tips from decorative concrete expert Bob Harrison on how to maintain various concrete floor finishes. In this video series, he'll tell you how to maintain floors exposed to light or heavy foot traffic and what protective finishes to use to keep floors looking like new.

Applying sealer

Advice on choosing the right sealer
For floors in high-traffic environments, it may be necessary to reapply the sealer if the protective finish wears away. The life expectancy of a sealer often depends on exposure conditions and how well the floor has been maintained by the owner. Learn more about choosing a floor sealer and which products deliver the best long-term performance.
