Tip! Choosing a Stamped Concrete Pattern
Appearance aside, here are two practical steps to ensuring a long-lasting outdoor floor.

1) Select a stamp pattern that's not too deep to drain or to allow level setting of outdoor furniture on top of it.

2) Be sure to apply a good-quality penetrating sealer around any floor that's in the cooking or dining areas to protect the flooring from oil and wine spills.

Hi  ,

What do you suggest? Which pattern would go best? These questions are probably something you've heard from a client in the past eagerly seeking your opinion on which stamp pattern to select for their outdoor project. Sure, you could probably suggest a pattern or two that have looked good on other projects. But wouldn't it be easier if you had a list of patterns that complement various styles of homes?

From expert garden designer, Scott Cohen, here's a list of five style match-ups for choosing outdoor kitchen flooring, or walkway, patio, and pool deck patterns.

Match up home styles to backyard styles:
  • Contemporary: Slate or cast-concrete tiles designed to be outdoors or clean, washed concrete in integral colors
  • Tuscan style: Tumbled pavers, unhoned travertine, deep-washed exposed aggregate or stone-texture stamped concrete
  • English/Traditional: Brick or darker flagstones, washed concrete or stamped cobblestone concrete
  • Tropical: Flagstone or faux rock texture-stamped concrete with stain accents
  • Old World: Authentic used brick, exposed aggregate concrete, Windsor Cobblestone texture stamps, fleur-de-lis and grape vine borders
