Preview the Spring 2007 Cover of Concrete Expressions Magazine

You might enjoy a behind-the-scenes look at how the Spring 2007 cover of Concrete Expressions magazine (coming April 1^st) was created, because most of the folks in decorative concrete are artists at heart, and we get a chance to work directly with artist, Katy Betz, to create these covers and try to capture the spirit of this art.

Another goal of the magazine covers is to inspire and create some excitement, as often people look at the work thats done in the decorative field and comment, I never knew this was possible.

Khara Dizmon, editor of Concrete Expressions magazine, and myself have seen impressive racks of sample boards at a variety of customers showrooms. Also, in looking at some of the old art and architecture paintings, we noticed how many decorative elements there were, such as counters, furniture, wall treatments, carpets, elaborate floors, etc.

Once artist, Katy Betz, started sketching the concept for the cover, the idea struck that with just a twist of the imagination, this is what the worlds first decorative concrete showroom might have looked like.

Its incredible working with an artist where what just starts out as a raw idea morphs into something magical, and you just have to go with the process and let the flow happen.
