Pipeline Layout
For the least line resistance, the pipeline should contain a minimum number of bends. This is because there is an increased resistance to movement of the concrete corresponding to an increased number of changes in line direction. Reductions in pipe diameter within the same line also increases resistance, so the same diameter line should be used throughout whenever possible. If the diameter must be reduced within the line, reducers should be used. The longer the reducer the better: it takes far more energy to pump concrete through a reducer four feet long than it does one eight feet long.
